Clinotech Diagnostics & Pharmaceuticals Inc, (CLINOTECH) is increasingly focused on both international industrial and home based Research & Development projects. In the first quarter of 2006, International Trade Canada notified that CLINOTECH was qualified and recommended to participate for the international procurement and services for the ¡°Control of HIV/AIDS, Malaria and TB in Southern African countries¡± supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB). The Southern African Development Community (SADC) secretariat in Botswana , which is the administrator of the project was contacted to complete the prerequisites for participation. CLINOTECH'S New Generation of Rapid Diagnostic Medical Devices for HIV/AIDS, Malaria and Tuberculosis meet the Technical Specifications of these test devices requested under the project and thus hope that it is shot-listed for the procurement any time soon by early 2007.

In the second quarter of 2006, CLINOTECH emphasized on extending its range of products on Pediatric Medicine, where Rapid In-vitro Diagnostic (IVD) Medical Devices are being developed to screen Phenylketonuria (PKU) in New Born and Follow up of PKU Mothers. This project supported by the National Research Council of Canada under the Industrial Research Assistance Program (NRC-IRAP) is under Market Assessment Phase to justify this requirement. The success of this project is aimed at increasing CLINOTECH'S Investment Plans for developing Rapid and more user-friendly IVD Medical Devices for screening diseases related to New-Born-Errors of Metabolism.

The third quarter saw CLINOTECH coordinating teams of both Canadian and African Researchers for ¡° Prevention Trial Capacity Building for HIV/AIDS in Africa ¡± under the Global Health Research Initiative (GHRI) supported by the Canadian International Development Agency, CIDA. This project, which is complimentary to Global Investors such as Bill & Melinda Gates and Bill Clinton's Foundations, is aimed at training African scientists and building capacities ready to trial prophylactic vaccines for HIV/AIDS, Microbicides (chemical interventions used to prevent HIV/AIDS and other Communicable Diseases during sexual intercourse) and new generation Diagnostic Devices in Africa . Our Group Application constituted McGill University AIDS Centre, Ottawa University , Ottawa Health Research Institution (OHRI), Child & Family Research Institute at BC Children's & Women's Hospital, University of British Columbia , Kwantlen University College , B.C. College of Medicine, University of Ibadan , [a World Health Organization (WHO) Centre for Excellence in HIV/AIDS Research in Africa ] and CLINOTECH. Having succeeded, collaborate scientists from these institutions will go to Africa to train our colleagues as well as invite them for further training opportunities in Canada .

Also late in the third quarter of 2006, CLINOTECH has been approved by CIDA for a Joint Venture Manufacturing of Medical Diagnostic Devices in Nigeria . Having completed the Viability Studies, the project will implement the assembly of both RAPID and ELISA based diagnostic devices mostly for HIV/AIDS, Malaria, TB, STD and other infectious diseases in the first phase to be followed by all the rest routine laboratory test devices for both blood and urine chemistries. CLINOTECH'S products and services are currently available in over 75 countries worldwide with continued expansion to other target markets. Our receivables internationally are being insured by Export Development Canada, EDC, which has helped enormously in our exports from Canada and thus support our clients gaining more confidence in CLINOTECH over the years as well. This JV Project in Nigeria will also help in sustaining our presence and services in Africa not only for the proposed projects in SADC Member countries and the GHRI Prevention Trial Capacity Building but also future projects with mutual benefit to Canada and Africa .

In the early forth quarter, CLINOTECH has been nominated and short-listed among three finalists for the Business Excellent Award, 2006 presented by the Richmond Chamber of Commerce and City of Richmond , B.C. Canada under Entrepreneur Category. CLINOTECH has also been nominated for BC Exports Award, 2006 which is pending.
